On April 28, 2025, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russia is prepared to provide military assistance to North Korea if necessary, in accordance with the mutual defense provisions outlined in the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership signed in June 2024.​
